I reminded her that I also had a reservation for two beds and asked why they were more important and she had no answer. When I approached the desk about moving into a new room they said they had some but they couldn't give me one because they were reserved by other people. They tried to pass it on to someone named Aquila who was supposed to call me the next day but she never did. I informed the front desk staff who acknowledged the mistake and even said it was the hotels fault but refused to correct the mistake. I booked a room with two beds and was given a room with only one bed. The staff are rude and completely unprofessional. I didn't need a step-by-step guide or anything, but some hotels have jogging and walking maps for people that exercise like me.… Lastly, I wanted to go on a walk with my dog and l asked the person at the front desk where I should go in the area. I don't know what the management is like, but I rarely come across a Hilton hotel where the people aren't pretty darn friendly. They also lock the door going out to the patio but have no signage to indicate that need to use your room key to get back in the lobby. I stayed at this hotel for two nights, and I never saw anyone at the front desk when I went down. I have insomnia and often go down to the front desk and then maybe go for a walk a few times during the night. I told him that I was surprised that they would sell that room for the broken window shade before they fixed it. I went down to tell them that I wouldn't stay in that room, and they seem to be scrambling to figure out what to do. We arrived, I went up to our room and the roller shade was broken and the cord was missing, so there was no way to open it and it was pulled all the way down. I probably should have noticed that this property was number 20 on TripAdvisor in the rankings of hotels in Schaumburg. I come to this area quite a bit and I'm trying to find a property that I can stay on a regular basis, and unfortunately I will be looking for an alternative. I generally love Home2 Suites, But this wasn't one of my better experiences. I had the oatmeal with some dried fruit and orange juice. Certainly not a gourmet meal, most of it was commercially prepared items (like the preformed omelettes, which were kinda tasty), I think there was a waffle maker but that was overrun by families. Breakfast on the morning after New Years Eve was a madhouse. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and when I wanted to use the grill to cook up my steak, the manager came out to light the fire and even provided me with a grilling utensil kit. Refrigerator and microwave but no stovetop, and the room also had an assortment of dishes, glassware, mugs and utensils - and a dishwasher. Very large television so I could plug in my computer and watch movies. Spacious, good lighting coverage, comfortable and modern. Rates were a little higher on NYE than the following night but, overall, the prices I thought were quite reasonable. They were typically closed for the winter but one was available.
I called the hotel prior to booking to confirm that at least one of the grills would be available. I specifically chose this hotel because I noticed the outdoor grills and firepit. Stayed here over New Years Eve because I needed to be in town for work.
